May 8 declared Remembrance and Reconciliation Day in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the decree on the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the victory over Nazism in Europe and the end of the World War II.
Deputy head of the Presidential Administration Rostyslav Pavlenko has noted at a press briefing on Tuesday that May 8 has been declared the Remembrance and Reconciliation Day in line with the United Nations.
"May 9 remains as a public holiday. The Cabinet of Ministers is offered to prepare a series of events to commemorate the heroes of the World War II," the deputy head of the Presidential Administration said.
However, Pavlenko noted that only May 9 will be a day-off in Ukraine.
