Ukraine to obtain around USD 26 mn to further law enforcement reforms

Ukraine will be granted about UAH 26 million from the U.S. Government to continue reforms of the law enforcement system. This was announced by Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov at a joint briefing with U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt following the signing of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United States of America for assistance in law enforcement and criminal justice.

"We are talking about financial assistance to support reform, in particular upgrading the Interior Ministry, border service and anti-corruption activity," stressed Arsen Avakov.

At this, Arsen Avakov emphasized among crucial issues, apart from financing, there is support, "when we received support by the U.S. Government in such a delicate question as reforms. Thus, we can count on the support of other democratic countries, what, in fact, was confirmed at a recent meeting with the ambassadors of a number of countries”.
