Ukraine begins the process of integration into the EU common transit system

An Action Plan for Ukraine's accession to the EU Common transit system (New Computerised Transit System - NCTS) has been approved. Ukraine’s integration into the NCTS will significantly speed up customs procedures, ensure effective counteraction to smuggling and generally promote the development of trade and economic relations between Ukraine and the EU.
Ukraine's accession to the European transit system NCTS is stipulated by the Association Agreement with the EU. Representatives of the Government Office for European Integration, other ministries and departments of Ukraine and EU representatives and the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania have discussed the measures of legal, organizational, structural and financial nature that Ukraine should undertake on this path.
Following the meeting, the Supervisory Board on accession to the common transit system approved the Action plan for the integration of Ukraine into the NCTS.
The preparatory process, according to officials, will take place with the active cooperation with domestic entrepreneurs and will be supported by the EU, whose representatives are ready to provide expertise and other practical assistance in developing legal documents, exchange of experience, training of customs authorities, the test use of the common transit system, etc.
