Ukraine's Constitutional Court begins hearing amendments on decentralization of power

The Ukrainian Constitutional Court has begun hearing a case involving changes to the Constitution dealing with the decentralization of power.
The Constitutional Court press service told Interfax-Ukraine that the hearing begins at 10:00 a.m. and will be held in the form of a written hearing, but journalists will be able to be present at the court hearing.
According to earlier reports, the Constitutional Court on July 17 received the Verkhovna Rada's request for its opinion on whether the bill amending the Ukrainian Constitution on the decentralization of power is in line with Articles 157 and 158 of the Constitution.

Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Groysman earlier said the parliament expects to receive the Constitutional Court's opinion on the bill on the decentralization of power in late August.
According to earlier reports, Ukrainian Constitutional Court Chairman Yuriy Baulin was hurt in a road accident on July 26 and is now in intensive care in a hospital in the Poltava region.
