Poroshenko signed into law a new procedure for the adoption of amendments to the Constitution

As the site of the head of state, the President signed the Law №948-VIII «On Amendments to Article 149 of the Rules of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine."

This law has been voted today by the Verkhovna Rada and was handed over to the President for signature.


The law provides that if the bill on amendments to the Constitution (which is the conclusion of the Constitutional Court meets the requirements of Articles 157, 158 of the Basic Law) has been pre-approved by BP and was not considered at the next regular session, after prior approval, then a such bill will considered by the Verkhovna Rada in the next ordinary session.


Chairman of the faction of the Radical Party, Oleg Lyashko said that today, "takes place in the parliament unconstitutional coup." He stressed that the Constitution clearly stipulates that changes to the Constitution are made final at the next regular session. According to him, this law because of the changes in the regulations in effect, this rule is canceled, and it's all done part of a coalition with the "opposition bloc".
